The overseas crisis management seminar was held before the summer recess for students, faculty members and employees of our university in the Tsukuba Campus in June 23, 2017.
At the opening of the seminar, Director General Benton of the Global Commons made an opening address including an introduction of initiatives on overseas crisis management in our university and delivered a message toward students who will travel overseas. Mr. Susumu Tsuda, Senior Coordinator for Protection of Japanese Nationals Overseas in the Japanese National Overseas Safety Division, Consular Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs was invited to deliver a lecture on the theme of "troubles and countermeasures during overseas trips" in the seminar. Assistant Professor Toru Yamada of the Global Commons in charge of overseas dispatch in our university also discussed "preparations for overseas travel and must-do's" including on-campus procedures before travel.
Over 100 students, faculty members and employees attended the event and students who took part said, "it was good to have a detailed presentation of things to know and things to prepare when going on an overseas study program" and "I have a better understanding of the need for Tabireg and ORRnet".
The Global Commons is scheduled to hold this seminar regularly to further increase awareness about overseas crisis management of students, faculty members, employees in our university.
