Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) Asia Regional Contest 2017 was held from December 16 to 17 in Tsukuba City.
A student team from the University of Tsukuba, "5000-cho-en team", placed 10th in the Asia regional contest. Three students and one coach were included in the team: Ms. Haruka Iwaki, Mr. Yuuji Moroto, Mr. Yasuaki Rokugo, and Assistant Professor Claus Aranha of the Faculty of Engineering, Information and Systems.
Taking prior record in consideration, the team was allowed to advance to the world finals scheduled in Beijing in April, 2018.
