Holding of a health care seminar for international students and foreign researchers and their families
On 10 July (Tuesday) in the University Hall International Conference Room, the health care seminar for international students and foreign researchers and their families was held and co-hosted by the Division of Student Exchange of the Department of Student Welfare and Global Commons in cooperation with the University Health Center. About 30 people including international students, foreign researchers and others participated.
In the first part, as examples of various initiatives (Life Plan Sukoyaka) regarding medical support and health promotion conducted by Tsukuba city, topics such as the effective way to search the appropriate medical doctor, support by a translator, medical examination for a specific disease, scheme of the National Health Insurance, procedures relating to childbirth, medical treatment system, Medical Welfare System (Marufuku) were explained in detail. Staff engaging in health care at the National Health Insurance Division, the Medical Welfare and Pension Division, the Health Promotion Division, and the International Exchange Office of the Tsukuba City Hall were invited to the seminar.
In the second part, Dr. Tohru Sakamoto, Director of the University Health Center of the University of Tsukuba, made an explanation entitled "Campus health, medical and counseling services" regarding medical examination in the university, first aid treatment and others.
Moreover, in the third part, Assistant Professor Tingting An at the International Exchange Support Division of Global Commons introduced how the university supports international students at the International Students Advisory Room.
The holding of seminars is expected to contribute to international students and foreign researchers and their families to enrich their understanding on various supporting system relating to available medical and health promotion as well as to enhance health awareness.
