Tsukuba Action Project (T-ACT) Open Symposium 2018

The Tsukuba Action Project (T-ACT) held its annual open symposium on December 12, 2018.
T-ACT is a project unique to the University of Tsukuba, which aims to promote students' involvement in social contribution activities through their spontaneous ideas and plans.

The symposium which was held under the theme of "Students of the University of Tsukuba according to society ?Evaluation and expectation of T-ACT?" checked the evaluation and expectation of the University of Tsukuba from society in terms of business activities and society in terms of regional contributions and examined the further enhancement of support to send students to society.
A total of 58 people including 23 students, 24 faculty and staff, and 11 people from outside the university participated in the symposium.

It started with an opening speech by Vice President for Student Affairs Shinobu Satoh. An account of support system of T-ACT was given and an activity report was provided by current students and graduates who used T-ACT, followed by a lecture titled "Students of the University of Tsukuba according to companies and T-ACT" was delivered by Mr. Motoki Tago, Chief Editor, Contents Department of Nikkei HR, Inc., and then Mr. Akimitsu Takase, Director of the Startup Promotion Office of Tsukuba City, delivered a lecture titled "Students of the University of Tsukuba according to regional contributions and T-Act". In the last session, all the lecturers ran a panel discussion.

The above verified that students can develop hands-on skills in a considerable way to do something while interacting with others which cannot be mastered in classroom lectures alone and can enrich their university life through the support of T-ACT. The skills developed by the students were assessed as skills needed in society from the perspective of business activities and from the perspective of regional contributions. It was a productive symposium where there was a suggestion that it's desirable to keep society informed about the support system and know-how of T-ACT with a view to new possibilities for T-ACT.
