Opening Ceremony for Intensive Japanese Course for Monbukagakusho Scholarship Students in April 2019
The opening ceremony for the Intensive Japanese Course for the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship Students who entered the University of Tsukuba in April of 2019 was held at the University of Tsukuba Center for Education of Global Communication (CEGLOC), the former International Student Center (ISC), on April 11. Students who take the course and CEGLOC staff participated in the ceremony.
The ceremony started with an opening speech by Professor Hirosada Iwasaki of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (CEGLOC Director), in the speech he introduced the new era name and encouraged international students to create a harmonious future.
A total of 9 international students will take the four-month Japanese language course at CEGLOC. By participating in various events on and off campus, the students are expected to become familiar with Japanese language and culture, easing their transition to Japanese life and academia.
The students of the Intensive Japanese Course who entered the university in April 2019 are from the following nations: Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Papua Niugini, Croatia, Montenegro, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Cameroon.
