Delegation from Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg made a courtesy visit to President Nagata
On May 15, a delegation from Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg lead by Rector Christian Tietje made a courtesy visit to President Kyosuke Nagata of the University of Tsukuba.
Starting with a greeting offered by President Nagata, the deans of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, faculty members of our university, and graduate students from Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg who are on a student exchange program at our university made an introduction of each faculty and presentations on education and research. Then they actively exchanged opinions and shared ideas on future collaboration.
Exchanges have been engaged between the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and the University of Tsukuba by concluding a faculty-level agreement in 2007, and by concluding a university-level agreement in 2012. Student exchanges and academic exchanges area actively carried on such as joint research with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on civil society organizations and with Professor Akira Uedono of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences (Director of the University of Tsukuba Bonn Office). Since Dr. Tietje was inaugurated as rector, Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg has been planning to activate further exchange with Japanese universities. This visit shows the possibility of expanding collaboration from current fields to other faculties by giving the presentation on our education and research field again. Taking the visit as an opportunity, the two universities are expected to expand and deepen exchanges in the future.
