Holding of the 2019 Fall Study Abroad Fair "Go Abroad!"
The 2019 Fall Study Abroad Fair "Go Abroad!" was held, co-hosted by Global Commons, Office of Global Initiatives, Top Global University Project Office of the Department of Educational Promotion, and Division of Student Exchange of the Department of Student Welfare of the University of Tsukuba, on October 30.
Together with "Study in Germany Fair which was held in Student Commons on the same day, a total of 320 students attended this fair. There were 21 information booths set up to present an opportunity for efficient information collection about various queries regarding overseas study and give students access to information that suits their goal. A "Reporting Session for Overseas Training at Kyrgyz and St. Petersburg" was also held. The Study Abroad Cafe, which gained a good reputation last year, where students can exchange with international students and those who have studied abroad while drinking coffee, was also set up this year. Many students visited and study abroad consultation and cross-cultural exchange were provided there.
The "Study Abroad Seminar" where students get to hear about basic information for overseas study and stories of students' overseas study experience was also conducted at the multimedia room. Basic information was provided by a member of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and two lecturers who have studied abroad talked about the usefulness of study abroad with their experience. Furthermore, a briefing session for those who wish to go e to overseas graduate school was held. This session is hosted by the Ministry of Education under the theme of "Overseas Study Abroad Promotion Program for Japanese Students" and aims to give opportunities to study for all young people with motivation and ability, then to double the number of Japanese students studying abroad till 2020, strengthen the collection and provision of information and foster momentum for study abroad. A guest lecturer invited from ICC Consultants Inc. provided a presentation and a question and answer session. A total of 30 students attended the seminar and the briefing session and it was very meaningful meeting.
Our university will further expand vigorous support for studying abroad to increase students who are spreading their wings around the world from Tsukuba.
