Route to reopening our university

The government has indicated the criteria for lifting the declaration of a state of emergency on May 14, 2020 and Ibaraki Prefecture has been removed from "target regions of the declaration of the state of emergency". As such, Ibaraki Prefecture has eased a part of its previous request on a voluntary ban on leaving home and suspension of business from May 18.

However, our university has many students who commute from Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, and Kanagawa and because these areas are still under the declaration of the state of emergency, the handling of reopening our university needs to proceed cautiously.

For that reason, we would like to ask students, faculty members, and employees to continue adequate preventive measures against infection spread including avoiding the "Three Cs" of closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings to prevent infection and to refrain voluntarily from traveling across borders between prefectures including areas not removed from the declaration of the state of emergency.

Furthermore, we would like to inform you separately in regard to what the route to reopening our university will be.
