On January 30, 2024, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman from the University of Malaya, along with three others, visited our Tokyo Campus. They had discussions with President NAGATA Kyosuke, Vice President IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu (Director-General, Bureau of Global Initiatives), and Prof. TSUJIMURA Maki, Director of our Malaysia Branch Campus Preparation Office.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the progress of preparations for the branch campus in Malaysia, scheduled to open in September of this year, and future efforts to strengthen education and research cooperation between the two universities.

On the same day, the delegation also visited our Tsukuba Campus where they observed experiments related to control mechanisms of photosynthetic metabolism in microalgae in the laboratory of Professor SUZUKI Iwane (Institute of Life and Environmental Sciences), and inspected joint research on electron microscopy with Hitachi High-Tech Corporation, led by Associate Professor YAMADA Yoichi (Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences).

They also toured the indoor pool's circulatory tank under the guidance of Professor KUDO Shigetada (Institute of Health and Sport Sciences) and visited the Olympic and Paralympic Exhibition Hall where they had a conversation with Professor Emeritus KATO Sawao, who has won 12 medals in men's gymnastics at the Olympics.

Expectations are high for further collaboration between the University of Malaya and our institution in the future.
