News

Regarding the acceptance of students currently enrolled or planning to enroll at universities in the United States (as of June 20, 2025)

In response to the partial suspension of international student admissions by the U.S. government, the University of Tsukuba will offer support for affected students who are currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in U.S. universities or graduate schools, in order to ensure they can continue their studies. The University will not charge the "Examination Fee" for this enrollment. (Other necessary expenses (admission fees, tuition fees, etc.) will still be required.)

Acceptance into the University of Tsukuba's Undergraduate programs


Regular students (For those seeking a degree)

Applicants for admission (including transfer) to courses and programs taught in 365体育投注 (September or October admission) and those for admission in October (including transfer) to courses and programs taught in Japanese will be required to undergo an interview, etc. (which may include an oral examination), successful applicants will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment including submitted documents.

Non-degree students (For those not seeking a degree)

Individuals who do not intend to obtain a degree but wish to temporarily enroll in the University of Tsukuba's undergraduate programs to continue their studies may be accepted under the following student categories. Please refer to the respective application guidelines for further details.

Acceptance into the University of Tsukuba's Graduate programs


Regular students (For those seeking a degree)

Application Requirements

  • Individuals who are enrolled in a U.S. graduate school as a regular student or have received an acceptance letter.
  • Individuals who are enrolled in a U.S. graduate school as a regular student or have received an acceptance letter.

Application Guidelines

If you are considering enrolling or transferring into a graduate program as a regular student, please contact us to request application guidelines by Friday, July 11. The application guidelines will be distributed in early July.

  • Name of desired degree program
  • Name
  • For those currently enrolled in a U.S. university, name of university, department, and date of enrollment
  • For those planning to enroll in this fall, name of university and planned department
  • For foreign nationals, status of residence in Japan
    Please fill out the above items and send them to admission.grad@un.tsukuba.ac.jp
    (We will accept requests for delivery after July 11, but the application period must be strictly observed.)

Please note that the degree programs which will be held entrance examinations are currently under consideration. If you wish to apply, please send an email to the above email address first.

Application Period:

Monday, July 14 to Wednesday, July 23 (Necessary documents must be received no later than this date.)

Note: Before you apply, Please make sure to contact a prospective supervisor and obtain consent to become your prospective supervisor in advance.

(Transfer students will be accepted in the equivalent year.)
